About Dr. Ransom
I’ve always loved science and I’ve been fascinated by anatomy my whole life. My interests drove me into medicine, but my pursuit of plastic surgery as a career came from my desire to help patients feel whole. Whether that’s helping patients recovery from a trauma or improve their appearance to boost their self esteem - I love the fusion of art and science I can provide for patients to improve their lives.
One of the best parts of my day is watching patients carry themselves differently when they come see me for follow-up appointments. Seeing how much relatively minor aesthetic changes can boost people’s self esteem and confidence is really amazing. I like to think my work as a surgeon plays a role in helping them present their best self to the world.
When it comes my approach to patients, I am really a straight-shooter. I aim to have honest conversations with my patients about what can and cannot be achieved and what techniques, technologies, and treatments will work best for them. I don’t try to sell my patients on anything; I want them to achieve results they will be happy with. One of my goals with new patients is to really listen to what they are saying they want. I always try to do what my patients want rather than project my own vision or aesthetic onto them.
Right now, I manage my own private practice in San Francisco, where I control my own schedule and am able to give every patient the time and personalized attention they deserve. I specialize in facial surgeries - including eyelid surgeries, facelifts, and rhinoplasties but I have been trained in a number of other types of head and neck surgeries, including cleft lip and palate surgeries. I’m dual board-certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. I studied Neurobiology at Northwestern before going to Columbia for medical school and doing my residency at UPenn. I then returned to New York to complete additional fellowship training at the New York Center for Facial Plastic and Laser Surgery and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
I hope my patients know that I make it a priority to really listen to them. My goal is to try to do what my patients want me to do as opposed to projecting my own vision or aesthetic onto them.
Outside of work, I love traveling and reading—historical fiction and science fiction are among my favorite genres. I also enjoy watching baseball, staying active outside by playing tennis, hiking, cycling, rock climbing and snowboarding during the winter.
I also have a big love for art, whether it’s visiting museums and galleries or trying my own hand at painting and drawing.
